'Petrol bombs' were used to attack and set fire to the home of Union minister RK Ranjan Singh in Imphal, Manipur.

On Thursday, miscreants in Manipur set on fire two homes that belonged to a specific group.

On Thursday late at night, a mob assaulted and set fire to RK Ranjan Singh's house in Kongba, Imphal.

RK Ranjan Singh's home in Kongba, Imphal, was broken into and set on fire by a crowd during the ethnic riots. The Manipur government reported this late on Thursday night. The union minister and his family were not home when the incident took place.

"I'm currently conducting business in Kerala. Last night in my Imphal home, at least, nobody was hurt. Criminals who came to my house with petrol bombs damaged the first and second levels, Ranjan Singh informed the news organisation.

"I am deeply saddened by what is happening in my own state. I'll keep pleading for peace in the same way. He went on to say that those who act with such savagery are completely unhuman.

Skirmishes broke out between protesters and security personnel in Imphal on Thursday, two days after the state's greatest escalation of violence resulted in nine people being shot dead and another 10 being injured. A mob set fire to two houses during this time.

The administration is holding discussions at all levels, according to Chief Minister N Biren Singh, who also promised that anyone guilty for the violence would be held accountable. In a recent act of violence reported in Manipur on Wednesday, nine people were killed and ten more were injured.

"In keeping with our commitment, we are interacting with everyone and holding conversations at all levels. The governor also formed a peace committee, and meetings with its members are ready to start. In a press conference, Singh expressed his desire for the people of the state to assist in bringing about peace as soon as possible.

He pointed out that there have been less violent incidents in the state, despite the fact that it is difficult to forecast when things would suddenly get better.

The CM assured that those instigating the violence will be held accountable.

"There were nine fatalities, and there were recorded arson incidents. It makes me feel quite down. The search for the culprits has began with an investigation. I can assure the people of the state that we will unquestionably charge the criminals with crimes in accordance with the law.

Violence has been occurring in Manipur since early May as a result of altercations at a rally organised by the All Tribals Students Union (ATSU) to protest against the proposal for the Meitei community to be classified as a Scheduled Tribe.

The state administration had been asked by the Meitei people to take their inclusion on the list of Scheduled Tribes (STs) into consideration by the Manipur High Court. The state government has extended the ban on internet use in the state until June 15 in light of the current situation.

Following the violence, Home Minister Amit Shah spent four days in Manipur beginning on May 29 and announced a series of peace-promoting initiatives.
